Good Lord! I love this author any other time, have read all of his books. I could not even finish this one. The absolute gore, violence, animal torture, totally one dimensional characters and writing, made me think John Hart didn't even write this book. It's beyond terrible. Hart's first four books are and will always be among my favorites of all time but this one misses the mark. Am always willing to suspend disbelief for a good story but this one is too grim, too gory, to far-fetched to be remotely believable. SPOILER ALERT. If it is possible in this world that a psychopath murderer can control the prison in which he resides, order up ghoulish murders on a whim, etc., not a world I want to even pretend is real. No satisfying ending here, a hanging thread instead. I've recommended Hart's first four books to everyone, read the others, but cannot recommend this one. It's a horror story; not what I expected or wanted.
