This is the first book I've read by this author and I was blown away with her writing. If I could give it more stars I would. The characters were well developed and interesting. I loved the dynamics between Hades and Persephone. They were flawed yet were able to develop as characters. I wasn't sure if I liked Hades at first but he grew on me with his growth during the story. It was a new take on an old story and I'm so glad I gave this a chance. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I gave up about halfway through but the book had promise and I think a lot of other people would enjoy it. It has a really interesting premise, the main characters seem well written, it seems well edited.My main issue is that the beginning was really well written. Hades is really harsh and cruel but not irredeemably so and Persephone's pain and hurt basically jump off the page. You are as a reader really sucked in waiting for Hades to experience the full punishment of missing out on Persephone and having to regret losing her.But you quickly find out he decided to look for Persephone by buying up strip clubs for some very sex positive American 2021 reason and he checks out Chloe (who is Persephone reincarnated with a totally different appearance - instead of being a thick brunette she's a slender, athletic blonde) and is interested in her from the beginning before even finding out who she is. He also hastens to assure us repeatedly that despite her being reborn as a slim blonde who looks totally different he is of course still attracted to her (shocker, most men would totally not trade in their wives for a slender blonde!) and he just doesn't seem like he was ever in love enough with Persephone for the book to measure up to the first chapter.To make up for centuries of hurt and pain and loss...I guess it just takes more than knowing that while picking out super hot headline dancers for the strip clubs he was buying to be supportive of women he really did kind of miss his wife?! He doesn't seem very in love with Persephone at all tbh. He seems very into Chloe who has no memories of being Persephone, no memories of him, and doesn't even look like Persephone - so she is for all intents and purposes a totally different person with a few shared interests and it makes me feel even sorrier for Persephone. That she wasted so much time in love with someone who just doesn't seem that into her.
